Lewis Elliot
I'm a 27 year old Professional Triathlete from Billings, Montana currently residing in Scottsdale, Arizona. My father Bill, an avid marathoner, encouraged me to start running and cycling as a way to spend time together. I've competed for the US National Cycling Team for many years and discovered great success with the sport of triathlon.

I consider being a Professional Athlete a dream come true. I'm the middle of three boys, and I credit my brothers Porter and Blair for giving me my competitive spirit at a very young age.

In 2006, I won the SOMA Half-Ironman with a bike course record and a personal best time of 3 hours and 58 minutes. The only past winners of this race (Chris Mccormack, Chris Legh, and Tim Deboom) are among the most famous and successful triathletes ever to compete.

2007 was a breakthrough year for me. In March, I finished third at Ironman California and in April I finished 8th at Ironman Arizona. I competed all over the U.S. and traveled to France where I represented the United States at the World Long Course Triathlon Championships. In October, I competed in the Ironman World Championships in Kona.

In 2008, I hope to win Ironman Arizona as well as place in the top 5 at the Ironman Hawaii World Championships.

The Tri-Scottsdale partnership with the Susan G. Komen breast cancer charity is a very important to me, as my mother passed away from breast cancer in 2003.

I am a 38 year old triathlete that moved out west from Philadelphia coming from a competitive sports background (Division One Soccer). After a few years of inactivity and becoming seriously overweight (215 Ibs.) it was time for me to change my lifestyle, meet new friends at Tri-Scottsdale and get back in to shape, I completed in my first triathlon in 08, since then it has been become my number one hobby; My calendar of events in FY09 was pretty full participating in multiple Sprints, Olympics and Half' triathlon as well as Half Marathon's setting personal records through out FY09. FY10 will take on a little different schedule in FY09 I married Heidi Pahl-Bickart, and we our expecting our first baby March 25th 2010 (Baby Girl), however this will not stop me from participating, in triathlons and half marathons around Phoenix.

I'm a twenty eight year old triathlon coordinator and licensed massage therapist. I work for the Village Health Clubs organizing our triathletes in conjunction with TriScottsdale/Gage Racing. I started at the Village as a child care attendant; and that is where I was first introduced to triathlon. A mom whose child I watched everyday asked me to do a sprint race with her. I had to borrow a bike, learn to swim freestyle, and then put all that together. I loved it and went straight to the Boulder 5430 (now 70..3 series race) for my first half ironman. Since then I have found that I can't sit in an office all day, I need to be outside and active. Just over 3 years ago I was fortunate enough to become the triathlon coordinator for the Village. My job entails our weekly early morning workouts, writing programs for beginners, and keeping our group up to date with anything and everything triathlon in the community. Our TriScottsdale/Gage Racing community is truly unique and I am thankful everyday that I am surrounded by such inspirational people. I love this sport and am lucky that my job is to get people involved and help them grow as an athlete. Up next is my 2nd Ironman race, St. George May 1st!!
In 1995, after graduating from college, I felt lost and didn't find the joy in athletics that I had once had. I took 2 years off completely form all exercise. Then in February 1997, I decided to sign up for my first triathlon. Racing, or participating, was the hardest thing that I had ever done. However, I was hooked. Eight years later, I am a professional triathlete.
I am a thirty-something attorney who specializes in family litigation. In addition, I am engaged by media outlets for legal analysis. I have always had a passion for athletics. I was exposed to many sports as a child. My father was a member of the United States Army downhill ski team and an avid long distance runner. I played varsity tennis and volleyball and always enjoyed gymnastics. I was a competitive cheerleader for most of my youth. My interest in long distance running began to develop more seriously after law school, when I used short runs as breaks while studying for the bar examination. I realized how therapeutic the sport was and mentally freeing. I completed my first 10K in 2004 in Los Angeles, CA and my first marathon in 2007 in Venice, Italy. I was then selected by professional triathlete and coach Troy Jacobson as a featured athlete in the Runnervals training DVD collection which was a fabulous experience. Subsequently, my friends at TriScottsdale convinced me to don a tri suit and attempt a sprint triathlon in 2007 and I truly enjoyed the experience. I've done several triathlons since and placed 2nd in my age group in the Los Palomas Triathlon in Rocky Point, Mexico. I've worked hard to balance management of my own law practice with my ongoing commitment to fitness. As I compete in the courtroom for a living, I try hard to curb my competitive edge at the start line and just enjoy the experience. The best part of being a part of the TriScottsdale community is the ongoing inspiration the group provides me to pursue all of my fitness goals, however large or small and more importantly the lifelong friends I have met along the way.

I'm 30-years old and in the best shape of my life. Two years ago I hit my all time highest weight just over 200-pounds. I knew it was time for a change. With the help of a personal trainer I managed to lose nearly 40 pounds in 6-months. My prize for my success was competition in my first sprint triathlon. Since that day nearly two years ago I have become immersed in the sport and have found a new zest for athletics and the discipline triathlon requires. Through Tri Scottsdale I have found amazing training partners and a group of people I am proud to call my friends. I compete in the sprint, Olympic and ½ IM distance, but aim to complete my first IM in 2011. I recently set a PR in the ½ IM distance at 2009 SOMA with a 5:29:50, nearly 37 minutes faster than last year. With the help of Camelback Coaching, support from Tri Scottsdale and my amazing family 2010 will be a great year for triathlon and for life especially with the birth of my first child Jillian (born 12-6-09). In 2010 I'm focusing on the Olympic distance with a goal of 2:30:00 and a sub 8:00 minute run pace, breaking 5:15:00 at the ½ IM distance and also hope to compete in my first XTERRA off road triathlon.

I am a thirty-something triathlete who became fatigued of having the disclaimer of being "just a runner". I bought my first road bike when I was in my early 20's and only rode sporadically. But the bike always beckoned me, particularly after moving to Phoenix in 2005. I slowly began to ride a little more often and finally, after ten years of "just" running marathons, took the plunge and competed in a few triathlons to which I won my first one and placed top ten in my second. I have found that triathlons are such a unique combination of raw talent, strategy, technology, and perseverance that I know I will never perfect them, but given my "Type A" personality I will never stop trying different tactics and seeking out new knowledge of the sport to gain an edge. During the week I am a scientist at a large pharmaceutical company and truly cannot imagine starting a work day without knocking out a few hours of running, biking, or swimming first…even when it means regular and disgustingly early wake-up calls. Above all else, aside from the physical aspects, I adore the lifelong friends and strong, bonding relationships that I have secured through supporting, training for, and competing in triathlons. I am eternally grateful for the Tri-Scottsdale/Team for fostering this. Look for me within the next year to increase my competition distance, and have as of late begun to consider racing the "big dance"—IM.

I am a 50-year-old runner who started triathlons at age 50. I have completed 21 marathons. I am most proud of my first Boston Marathon because it took me 6 marathons to finally qualify. I don't think I've ever smiled more at the end of a race than the PF Chang RocknRoll Marathon where I qualified. I recently completed my first Ironman at IMAZ with my boyfriend, and we had a blast. My goals as a triathlete are to continue to improve in my age group and enjoy the fun of competing. I also enjoy walking my dogs, watching football and basketball and hanging out with my kids and my boyfriend.

I am Twenty Two years old and I began as my athletic career as serious weight lifter early in high school and then started running marathons with my Dad at the end of my senior year. When I turned18, they started an Ironman in Tempe, and I switched from marathons to the Ironman. I was already biking to ASU everyday from Ahwatukee so picking up Ironman wasn't too hard. I have done 6 Ironmans already and hope to keep doing them. I don't care if I am the best, I just like getting faster each year, and I especially like all the people you can meet through swimming, biking, and running.

I will grow up this year to be a 35 - 39 age group triathlete. During my youth contact sports were more my thing being an all state wrestler and football player. Post high school my sporting life drifted away until I turned 30 years old and decided I very much needed to bring the thrill of competition back to my life. I started back down the path of fitness with a mountain bike and some casual trail riding until I saw the Ford Ironman World Championship on television and decided that I would like to try triathlon. I began training for my first sprint which was the last edition of the Timex Sprint held at Tempe Town Lake. I survived and was immediately hooked. The following day I returned the 50cm girls bike I borrowed and bought my first road bike. After a year and half of training on my own I discovered the Tri Scottsdale group running at the Chaparral High School track. I was welcomed with open arms and now call each and every member of the club my friend. Several years later I am proud to call myself an Ironman, a consistent top three AG finisher and an all around better athlete due to the support that the Tri Scottsdale group has provided. My plans for 2010 include another, if not two Ironman, races several half iron distance races and maybe a 50k running race. No matter which races I decided to do, being a part of the Tri Scottsdale group will guarantee me another year of great friendships and many fun filled days of swimming, biking, running and enjoying time with my likeminded Tri Scottsdale family.

I am a 47 year old runner turned triathlete. I have been running since 1997. In that time I have completed eight marathons and completed Pemberton 50K run in February 2009. In 2006, I completed Ironman Arizona. I had a great experience, felt strong, recovered quickly and was very comfortable with my accomplishment. I figured it doesn't get any better than having that type of race, and felt pretty strong about not having the desire to complete another one, until the peer pressure of TriScottsdale took over. I am now registered for IM Switzerland and really am excited about completing another IronMan. When I am not training, I am a full-time Realtor and real estate investor. I volunteer with the Big Sisters foundation and I have encouraged my little sister of two years, Carmen, to get involved in triathlons and running events. We run Race for the Cure and IronGirl every year, and I think she might be ready for something longer than a 5K now. I organize a Sunday Gals ride, that started in June of 2006, and we have grown to over 300 woman strong. On any given Sunday, we have approximately 20 gals out for a ride. The ride is called "NO WOMAN LEFT BEHIND" and we really do try to stay true to our mission. The women and relationships that have developed are amazing. NWLB has grown and taken on a life of its own. Look for our page on the Tri-Scottsdale site. My goals for 2010 include having fun with endurance sports and encouraging others to experience the camaraderie of Tri-Scottsdale - oh yeah, and tackle IronMan Switzerland.
